The Spil-Pruf male urinal is a moulded plastic bottle for bedside and night time use, fitted with a patented non-spill spout that prevents spillage in any position. Total capacity is one litre, of which 500 mL is held securely without spilling if the bottle is knocked over or laid down, and 100 mL graduation markings along the side allow output to be measured where fluid balance is being recorded. An integrated handle gives a secure hold when the bottle is being positioned or passed, and the spout unscrews easily for emptying and cleaning. The bottle is autoclavable, so it can be sanitised for repeated use, and it weighs 240 g. A female adaptor for the Spil-Pruf urinal is also available separately under Care Quip code CF0060.

The non-spill spout is the real point of difference: 500 mL stays in the bottle whatever position it finishes in, which removes much of the worry about bedding and flooring overnight. Graduation markings keep fluid monitoring straightforward without decanting, and because the bottle can be autoclaved it stands up to repeated reuse rather than being replaced.
