The Homecraft Key Turner is a moulded handle that holds an ordinary door key so the key can be turned with the whole hand rather than a fine pinch of the fingers. The keys are fitted into the body of the turner, and the large curved handle provides leverage, so considerably less strength is required at the fingers, thumb and wrist to work a lock. A locking lever holds the keys in position for turning and allows them to be folded back into the handle when they are not in use, which keeps the unit compact in a pocket or handbag. The contoured surface is shaped to sit comfortably in the palm for better control. The blue double-key version holds two keys.

The front door is often where reduced grip becomes hardest to work around, so an aid that restores this one task has a disproportionate effect on getting out of the house unaided. The leverage of the shaped handle lowers the effort and the discomfort involved, and because the keys fold away, the turner can be carried every day without becoming another item to manage.
