The Homecraft Lightweight Foam Standard Cutlery set brings together a knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon for people who find ordinary cutlery difficult to hold through a meal. Each stainless steel utensil is fitted with a soft foam handle measuring 11.5 cm long and 2.8 cm in diameter, so the fingers do not need to close as far and less grip strength is required to keep the utensil under control. The thicker handle also spreads the load across the hand, which helps when joints are painful or dexterity is reduced. The packed set of four weighs 151 g in total, with individual pieces between 30 g and 45 g, so nothing in the set is heavy to lift to the mouth. The handles are latex free and the standard cutlery is washed by hand.

Built up foam handles make a genuine difference at mealtimes for anyone with arthritis, a weak grip or reduced dexterity, because less finger closure and less force are needed to hold a utensil steady. Buying the knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon as a matched set also means every course is covered without switching back to standard cutlery.
