These three-quarter length side rails are made for the K-Dee II and K-Dee Classic beds and give side support along the main length of the mattress platform. They are supplied and priced as a pair, and they attach into the channel in the bed frame with a bracket and hand screw arrangement, so no separate tools are needed to fit or remove them. Each rail is collapsible: it is lifted clear, a release button at the foot end is pressed, and the rail lowers gently out of the way, which allows a carer to drop one side for personal care, repositioning or a transfer and raise it again afterwards. The three-quarter length leaves the head and foot ends of the bed open rather than enclosing the whole platform. Bed width becomes 102 cm once the rails are fitted.

For a person at risk of rolling or falling from bed, a solid barrier along the mattress is reassuring, and the collapsible design means that reassurance does not come at the cost of bedside access. Raising or lowering a rail takes one hand and no tools, which makes it far more likely to be used properly during daily care.
