The CareQuip Aluminium Shower Chair is a free standing shower seat with a backrest and arms, intended to let a person sit while showering rather than stand throughout. Seat height adjusts from 41 to 56 cm, which allows the chair to be set level with a bed or a wheelchair so transfers are shorter, and the arms are angled to give something solid to push up from or lean on when moving on and off the seat. Drainage slots in the seat let water run away instead of pooling beneath the user. The frame is powder coated aluminium, light enough to move for cleaning and rust proof in a wet room, and non-slip rubber tips help the chair hold its position on tiled floors. It is rated to 200 kg and tested to AS/NZS 3973:2009.

Sitting down to shower removes much of the fatigue and unsteadiness that comes with standing for the duration, and the wide seat height range lets the chair be matched to the height of a bed or wheelchair so the transfer itself is simpler. The 200 kg rating and the Australian Standards testing also make it a sound choice for shared or facility use.
