The EquaGel Protector is the deeper cushion in the EquaGel range and is intended for people who spend prolonged periods seated. About 6.4 cm (2.5 inch) of patented EquaGel sits on a 1.27 cm (0.5 inch) stability foam base, and the gel is a dry polymer rather than a wet or fluid filled one. It is built in two stages, a thin walled top grid with a tight pattern for comfort over a thicker walled lower grid with a wider pattern for deep postural support, and the gel columns buckle under load so pressure is spread across the contact area. The pelvic area is contoured to even out weight while retaining about 4.45 cm (1.75 inch) of buckling gel under the pressure points, and a 2.54 cm (1 inch) trochanter bucket is sculpted in to limit sideways movement. Eight sizes are available and the safe working load is 147 kg.

The extra gel depth and the sculpted trochanter bucket are the two points worth weighing up, since together they let the body settle further into the cushion while the pelvis stays in a steadier position through a long day in a chair. Upkeep is minimal because there are no valves, pumps or inflation levels to check, and replacement covers are available separately when the original wears.
