The Hero Medical Swivel Bather is a bath seat that rests across the rim of a bath and rotates, so the user can sit down on the outside of the bath and then turn to face into it rather than stepping over the side. The base frame sits on the bath and is secured by positioning screws on both sides, which are tightened until their rubber ends press against the bath wall. The seat drops onto this base and a swivel pin locks its rotation. In use the seat is locked facing the side of the bath, the user sits with the arms taking some of their weight, the pin is released so the seat can turn and the legs can be brought over the rim, and the pin is locked again for bathing. Height is set to suit the user beforehand.

Climbing over the rim of a bath is one of the more demanding movements in a bathroom, and a swivel bather replaces it with sitting first and turning second, with arms on both sides to steady the movement. The unit clamps onto the bath rather than being installed, so nothing is altered permanently and it can be removed when other members of the household want to bathe.
