The Invacare Birdie EVO is a mobile powered patient lifter used to move a person between a bed, a chair or the floor when a full body lift is required. The person is supported in a compatible sling that attaches to a spreader bar on a curved boom, and the carer raises, lowers and rotates the load using powered controls while steering the lifter on its castors from the shaped push bar. The boom sits high so there is room for the person even at full lifting height, and the space in front of the actuator is shaped to reduce contact with the knees. The base legs spread from 64 to 102 cm to fit around chairs, wheelchairs and bed frames, the lifting range runs from 41.5 to 166 cm, and the safe working load is 180 kg.

Powered lifting with full 360° rotation gives the carer close control over where the person finishes a transfer, which matters in bedrooms and bathrooms with little spare floor. The curved boom and spreader bar keep carer and client in eye contact throughout, and the frame folds and the mast detaches without tools, so the lifter can be stored or moved between homes by one person.
