The Homecraft Incurve Plate Surround is a food guard that turns an ordinary dinner plate into one with a high, inward sloping wall. Three flexible clips grip the rim of the plate, so no special crockery is required and a familiar plate can continue to be used. The sloping inner face gives food something to be pushed against, allowing a spoon or fork to be loaded without the food being chased across the plate or pushed over the edge, which is particularly useful when eating with one hand or with reduced coordination. The surround is moulded in melamine, weighs 45 g and fits plates with an external diameter between 19 cm and 25.4 cm. It clips on and off in moments and is dishwasher safe to 82 degrees C (180 F).

A plate surround is one of the least conspicuous ways to make a meal easier, because it works with the crockery already in the cupboard instead of setting the meal apart as different. The raised inner wall does the work of a second hand when food is being gathered onto a utensil, and the whole piece goes through the dishwasher with the plate.
