The Karma S-Ergo 125 Self-Propel Wheelchair is the self-propelled configuration of Karma's flagship S-Ergo model, fitted with 24 inch rear wheels and Ergo handrims so the occupant can propel and brake independently while a carer can still push from the rear handles. The patented S-shaped seat frame is contoured to spread pressure and discourage forward sliding, holding a seated position without a separate cushion. Ergonomic arm pads curve inward and narrow towards the base so the hands are not obstructed during propulsion, and the flip-back armrests fold away for side transfers and for drawing up to a table. Detachable swing-away footrests remove without tools. The lightweight aluminium double cross brace frame carries up to 115 kg, comes in 40 cm (16 inch), 45 cm (18 inch) and 50 cm (20 inch) seat widths, and folds to 32 cm wide.

Independent propulsion is what most users want to keep, and the combination of a large rear wheel, a shaped handrim and arm pads that stay clear of the hands makes self-propelling less tiring over a full day. The seat shape supports posture through long sitting periods, and the chair still folds down to fit a car for appointments and outings.
