The Long Handled Bathing Sponge is a washing aid that extends reach in the shower or bath so the back, legs and feet can be cleaned without twisting or bending. An oval foam sponge head is mounted on a plastic-coated flexible wire stem fitted with a grey built-up plastic handle, and the stem bends into whatever shape suits the area being washed. The foam head holds water and soap well, so a single pass covers a useful area. Two lengths are offered, 38 cm and 61 cm, which allows the aid to be matched to the user's reach and to the space available for storage. It suits older people, people living with a disability and anyone whose shoulder, hip or spinal movement is temporarily or permanently limited. The same reach is also useful for cleaning awkward corners around the home.

Washing the lower legs, feet and back is where reach tends to run out first, and a bendable stem lets the sponge follow the contours of the body rather than the body follow the sponge. The built-up handle keeps the aid manageable for a weaker grip, and the choice of two lengths means it can be sized to the bathroom as well as to the person.
