The Monarch is a single motor rise and recline armchair from Care Quip, intended for people who need assistance moving between sitting and standing. A hand held controller drives the chair through its lifting and reclining range, and the motion stops at any point the button is released, so a position can be held wherever it feels comfortable. In the single motor configuration the padded legrest is synchronised with the backrest, and a full chaise pad continues that support along the legs. The seamed backrest adds lumbar shaping for longer periods of sitting, and a magazine pocket is supplied. The standard size gives a seat width of 55 cm, a seat depth of 46 cm and a seat height of 50 cm, with an overall width of 82 cm and a maximum user weight of 130 kg. Four colours are listed: black, coffee, hazelnut and pacific blue.

Powered rise assistance reduces the effort of standing up for people with limited leg strength, and the hand controller places that movement under the user's own direction rather than a carer's.
