The One Touch Jar Opener is a battery powered kitchen aid that removes screw lids from jars at the press of a button, so no twisting, pulling or squeezing is required. The unit is placed over the lid, where an inner jaw grips the lid and an outer jaw holds the body of the jar steady. One press then clamps, turns the lid off, and stops the motor automatically once the lid is free. It fits lids from 3 to 8.8 cm in diameter and measures 18.6 x 9.1 x 6.8 cm, which is compact enough to keep in a kitchen drawer or carry between locations. It runs on two AA batteries, which are not included, and the smooth surfaces wipe clean. The opener removes lids only and does not refit them.

Opening a factory sealed jar asks for a firm grip and a strong twist at the same moment, which is the combination that becomes difficult with arthritis, tremor or weakness on one side.
