The Royale Multi-Motion Bed Wide Side Rail is a mid-length rail for the Royale Multi-Motion bed range, built as a four-bar panel that presents a broader contact area than a compact grab rail. The wider surface gives more places to take hold when rolling over, shifting up the bed or moving towards the edge to transfer out, and the four-bar structure forms a more substantial barrier than a single grip bar. At 68.5 cm wide it covers the middle section of the bed, which adds stability without closing off the length of the mattress, so a carer can still reach the person from either end. The rail stands 43 cm above the top of the bed base, is made of metal for long-term reliability, and fits to the bed surround on either side of the bed without tools.

A wider rail is simply easier to use than a single bar, because there is more than one place to take hold while repositioning. The mid-length format balances the two competing needs, adding support at the centre of the bed while leaving both ends open for carer access.
