The Savanah Raised Toilet Seat is a moulded plastic seat that sits over an existing toilet pan and raises the sitting height by 5 cm, so there is less distance to lower into and less effort in standing again. Adjustable brackets clamp it to the pan to hold it securely in position, and it is designed to fit most standard toilets, which means it can be put in place in a domestic bathroom without plumbing work and lifted off again if required. The seat is lightweight plastic and slopes slightly downward toward the front to assist the movement of sitting and rising. It measures 41 cm wide by 40 cm deep, weighs 1.2 kg and accommodates users up to 190 kg. It suits older people and people with a disability who find a standard toilet height difficult, and supports privacy and independence in the bathroom.

Height is the practical issue this product addresses, since lowering onto a standard toilet and rising again calls for a good deal of leg strength and 5 cm makes a noticeable difference to how manageable that movement is. Because the seat clamps on and lifts off, it alters nothing permanently, which matters in rental and shared housing, and at 1.2 kg it is easy to remove for cleaning.
