Features
A slide sheet is a low friction fabric sheet used to move or reposition a person on a bed, in a chair or in a shower without lifting them. The sheet is folded over on itself and placed under the person, and the carer then slides the upper layer across the lower layer, so the person moves with very little force applied. Because the movement comes from the fabric sliding on itself rather than from the carer taking the load, the technique reduces the strain and the risk of back injury associated with manual lifting. The sheet is made from nylon, which slides readily and stands up to repeated use, and it is machine washable between uses. It is supplied in a regular size of 100 cm by 150 cm and a large size of 200 cm by 150 cm.
